According to local legend, a flag was displayed when County Clerk Robert Levers read the Declaration of Independence in Easton Centre Square on July 8, 1776. Some believe it to be the same Company Colors of Capt. Abraham Horn's Militia Co. from Easton which was raised during the War of 1812. The original survives at the Easton Public Library. Others believe the flag dates from this later period. Regardless, it currently is the city flag of Easton, Pennsylvania. |
