The titled account was part of the second annual report of the Maryland Committee of the United States Christian Commission printed in 1863. This report not only includes accounts of the volunteers' efforts to reach the battlefield, and the amount of aid they administered, it includes a map giving the location of the opposing forces and the hospital sites established after the guns fell silent. Through personal encounters and overall statistics, the reader is given a walking tour through the particular hell that was the aftermath of every major Civil War battle. An exact reprint of this scarce report, it is printed on off-white paper with a pale yellow cover making it ideal for use in civilian and medical impressions. Wraps, 5 ½ x 8 ½", written by Andrew B. Cross, 32 pages, 1 map. |
